In 2014, the sister company of Green Concepts, Biogas Clapton commissioned an anaerobic digestion plant (AD plant) in the South West of England. Together with their technology supplier BioConstruct, they installed a 500kW Jenbacher CHP inside a 40ft container. The plant consists of two fermenters that can hold 1800 cubic metres each, and a one 4200 cubic metre storage tank.
Both maize and grass are grown on-site which are utilised as the predominant feedstock (80% maize silage, 15% gras and 5% slurry).
In November 2016, the AD plant was further expanded with the installation of a second 250kW CHP. Additionally, a dryer was installed to further reduce the carbon footprint of the plant.
